State as of 28 may 2015: I’m wondering about the char-encoding of the 4D_Tech mailing list. I inserted them into pictures, to keep their appearance as they appear on my Yosemite-Mac and iOS8-iPhone.
Okay, Keisuke is writing from Japan, although those characters look chinese to me.
On iPhone the characters of the same message are differently wrong.
How comes the Mail-Server converts \ into ¥, does it cost anything? And lots of chinese again.
Then there is a message from Glasgow, should be roman characters only.
Anything I can learn from this to avoid annoying my customers?

With advice by Tim Penner, I checked the option to receive MIME-digests, instead of the plain-text version. Seems to solve the problem on Mac and AppleMail.
But there is iPhone as shown to the right. I do see the list of topics but then there is every message as single mime-attachment to be loaded separately and read separately. Makes no sense. Back to plain-text.

I suspect that the munging of text took place when the software was trying to convert all of the messages to plain text for a single digest message, whereas the MIME format should allow each message to preserve its original content-encoding within its own MIME envelope.
